Intuitive Eating Principle #3 Make Peace with Food

Moving right along in the series we are at the third principle in the Intuitive Eating journey which is Make Peace with Food. Yes, this means all food! Letting go of the binary thinking and labeling of foods being “good vs bad” or “healthy vs unhealthy.” Making all foods neutral and legal is the goal to this principle.

“This principle is at the root of repairing our relationship with food. It is really hard to lean into being more intuitive with your relationship with food if there is an external set of rules or every food decision feels like a moral choice. Making peace with food and removing the moralization from that decision really helps you to tune in more and care for yourself in a more intunitiveway.”

What is covered in the episode?

Come join the podcast conversation I had with Kalin Herbach an Alberta based Registered Dietitian. We talk about the third principle of Intuitive Eating which is Make Peace with Food. This is an essential step when you are recovering from restriction or deprivation. Taking the morality out of food is necessary when healing your relationship with food.
We talk about:
– What the possibility of life looks like when making peace with food
–  Explain what restriction and deprivation are and how this impacts a person
– Why it is hard to make peace with a “forbidden” food
– How habituation can work in your favour
– Recommendations on how to get started with making peace with all foods!
